What about some beer and wine?
Quality table wine is served nightly with the evening meal. We have a licensed bar onboard with popular major brands of Australian beer, spirits, mixes and quality wines. If you have any special requirements let us know in plenty of time (one month) and we will endeavor to have requirements on board for you to purchase. The bar is self-serve with an honor sheet, bar tabs are settled prior to departure by card or cash. IMPORTANT. Cape York is a restricted alcohol area, it is an offence to have certain amounts and certain alcohols in your possession, baggage can and has been searched and people (not ours thankfully) have been charged. Enquire with us of the limitations or DO NOT BRING ALCOHOL WITH YOU.

Am I guided all the time while fishing?
Carpentaria Seafaris is a fully guided service. There is up to six guides depending on client numbers. Two anglers per boat / guide is also strived for. If there is an odd number of anglers or conventional anglers we very comfortably sometimes fish 3 anglers in the larger 22 foot skiffs. Some clients prefer to self drive and are always in the company of the guides and are in constant radio communication. Guides are in their designated skiffs and anglers generally rotate around the guides. This is a flexible arrangement and changes depending on angler preferences skill and requirements. The fishery is extremely user friendly, calm protected estuaries and coastline. Your safety and enjoyment is our utmost concern.

Does it matter that I am not a good angler?
Absolutely not, the fishery is pristine and the fish plentiful so you do not need to be a "Guru" to have success. In fact, often the beginners, and there "beginners luck" have the best results. Luck aside, beginners don't have any preconceived ideas and habits from other fisheries, and beginners listen, and do what they are advised to do often turning themselves into top rod for a particular day or even the trip. Fly anglers please try and get some casting practice or even some coaching in if required. We are presenters of opportunities you have to make the casts.

Should I bring my own fishing rods?
Yes, we strongly suggest that if you do not own your own equipment you invest in at least one rod of your choice and become familiar with it's use it before you arrive. Then, you will then be "up to speed" on day one not day four. A good outfit is a lifetime investment for less than what you would expect.

If you are thinking of purchasing, please see the tackle section of the site for advice on requirements or don't hesitate to contact Greg on greg@seafaris.com or 07 40693254.

When is the best time to go fishing and tides?
There are far more important factors governing when you should spend a week with us than me telling you "This is the best week of the year" You're work and lifestyle commitments, weather and seasons where you live etc. For example, If I lived in Melbourne, Australia I would be enjoying a week in our northern sunshine, escaping our southern winter. All our scheduled trips are during the best tides cycles and take into account all available predictions and our years of experience in the area. All trips where possible are flexible to suit individual client groups requirements, please contact Greg greg@seafaris.com or 07 40693254 to discuss personal requirements.
