Am I guided all the time while fishing?
Carpentaria Seafaris is a fully guided service as of 2008 and is striving to be so for the rest of 07. There is up to six guides depending on client numbers.

Two anglers per boat / guide is also strived for. If there is an odd number of conventional anglers we very comfortably sometimes fish 3 anglers in each of the 2 larger 22 foot skiffs. Guides are in their designated skiffs and anglers and angler pairs rotate around the guides. The fishery is extremely user friendly, calm protected estuaries and coastline. Your safety and enjoyment are our utmost concern.

Does it matter that I am not a good angler?
No, the fishery is pristene and the fish plentiful so you do not need to be a "Guru" to have success. In fact, often, the beginners, and there "luck" have the best results. Luck aside, beginners don't have any preconceived ideas and habits from other fisheries and "beginners," listen and do, what they are advised to do, often turning themselves into "Top Rod" for a particular day or even the trip.

Should I bring my own fishing rods?
Yes, we strongly suggest that if you do not own a bait caster, fly, or spin rod depending on how you like to fish, you beg, buy or borrow one and learn to use it before you arrive. Then, you will then be "up to speed" on day one not day four.

If you are thinking of purchasing, please see the tackle section of the site for advice on requirements.

What about Fly fishing?
If you are a fly fisher your 7 to 10 weight (9 is perfect) with weightfoward intermediate line [Scientific Anglers clear Mastery Series Striper taper or wet tip clear salt water] Clousers and weighted Pink Things on 1/0,2/0 and 3/0 hooks are the flys of choice. Weighted Crab flys are a must for the exotics on the flats

We have Shimano Calcutta 200 and 400 reels with matching rods, and Shimano Charter Specials with TLD rods and Shimano spinning outfits. Should I bring some lures?
I you are a lure fisher we suggest you purchase a few, our favourites as follow. Tilsan Barra in bright colours, Nilsmaster Spearheads in bright colours and Gold Bombers for the rivers. Number 6 "Outback Charlie" Producer lures (chrome colours only) and Super Scorpions (deep divers) in bright and chrome colours for the toothy critters offshore. There are lots of good quality lures available that work, these are just a few of our personal favourites. Basically deeper and brighter is better.

When is the best time to go fishing and tides?
There are far more important factors governing when you should spend a week with us than me telling you "This is the best week of the year" You're work and lifestyle commitments, weather and seasons where you live. Eg. If I lived in Melbourne, Australia I would be enjoying a week in our northern sunshine, escaping our southern winter.
All our scheduled trips are during the best tides cycles of every month.
